Activities at the Preserve

The Preserve classification requires an environment of passive recreation. The roads were designed for equestrians and carriage driving. They are also perfect for walking, jogging, cross-country skiing, as well as nature study, bird watching, hiking, photography, and walking a leashed dog. Fishing with a state license is permitted during trout and bass season. Indeed, the Pocantico River which passes through the Preserve is a class B trout stream and is stocked each spring.

As a result of a Friends’ grant, we will be building an accessible station by Swan Lake this summer. It will include parking for two vans, a mounting block, and lakeside viewing areas.
