2009 EQUESTRIAN RULES FOR THE ROCKEFELLER STATE PARK PRESERVE PLEASE READ { Stay on the marked carriage trails. { Horses are not permitted in the Visitor’s Center Courtyard. { Ride at a walk, trot or canter – Galloping is prohibited. { Brother’s Path (the trail around Swan Lake) is a walk-only area. { Horses must be properly saddled and bridled. { EACH horse must have a rider who is in control of only one horse at a time – No Ponying. Carriage drivers are the only exception to this rule. { Riding double or bareback is prohibited. { Meet and pass other horses, walkers and vehicles at a walk and in single file. The trails are to be shared by ALL. { Be aware that people in wheelchairs may not be as maneuverable as those on foot. Please yield right of way. { Riders age 14 years and younger are required by law to wear an ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) certified riding helmet. { Smoking and alcoholic beverages are prohibited. { If you choose to bring a dog with you, it must be on a leash. PLEASE BE SURE YOUR PERMIT IS VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES WHILE RIDING OR DRIVING IN THE PRESERVE. PERMITS CAN BE ATTACHED TO THE HORSE’S TACK OR RIDER’S ATTIRE. THIS PERSON’S NAME APPEARS ON THE PERMIT TAG. PERMITS ARE NOT TRANSFERRABLE.
THESE RULES MAY BE UPDATED OR CHANGED AT ANY TIME. RIDERS WILL BE UPDATED OF CHANGES.
