Over 180 horses, ponies, and their riders saddled up Sunday for the 9th annual Autumn Country Pace hosted by The Friends of Rockefeller State Park and Preserve and the Westchester Horse Council.

Spring Flower Show at the Rockefeller Preserve

Hiding in plain sight, in the courtyard surrounding the Visitor Center of the Rockefeller State Park Preserve, is a cacophony of colors ranging from pure white to lipstick pink to a deep red mahogany. This delightful treasure is the meticulously maintained peony garden – Japanese Tree Peonies to be exact.

A Lesson Learned at Pocantico Hills

The notion of that title glided into my head one spring morning last year, about six months after Nelson’s death, as I jogged around the Tarrytown Lakes at the edge of the Rockefeller property, near where Lake Road rises to Pocantico Hills proper and where the deer come down in the early morning and again before sunset to graze.
